Frequently asked questions

A few of the questions we are asked most often about our vintage jewellery, sizing, shipping and returns. If your question isn't answered here, the quickest way to reach us is on Instagram at @robynandgold — or you can get in touch via our contact page. We are always happy to help.

Is your jewellery genuinely vintage and authentic?

Yes. Every piece is personally sourced and individually assessed by hand before it is listed. Where an item carries a hallmark we describe it; where a piece is unmarked, we acid-test the metal to confirm its content and say so clearly in the listing. Each ring is then professionally cleaned and prepared before sale.

How do I find my ring size?

Every listing states the ring's size in both UK and US measurements. If you are unsure of your own size we recommend having your finger measured by a local jeweller, as this is the most accurate method. You are always welcome to message us on Instagram at @robynandgold, or get in touch through our contact page, before buying and we will help however we can.

Can a ring be resized?

Many of our rings can be resized by a professional jeweller, though it depends on the individual piece, its setting and its stones. Please note that once a ring has been resized, altered or customised — whether by us at your request or by a third-party jeweller — it is considered final sale and is non-returnable.

What does “old cut” or “old mine cut” diamond mean?

Old cut diamonds — including old mine cut and old European cut stones — were cut by hand before modern machine cutting. They typically have fewer, larger facets and a softer, warmer sparkle than modern brilliants. These cuts are part of what gives antique and vintage jewellery its character, and each stone is unique.

Are the metals hallmarked or tested?

Some pieces carry original hallmarks and some, particularly older or foreign-made items, are unmarked. Any unmarked piece is acid-tested to confirm its gold content (for example 9ct or 18ct). The hallmark status and tested metal content are described in each individual product listing.

Where do you ship to, and is it insured?

We ship worldwide from Ireland. All orders are sent fully tracked and insured for their value. Any customs duties, import taxes or fees charged by the destination country are the responsibility of the buyer.

What payment methods do you accept?

Payments are handled through Stripe's secure checkout, which accepts major credit and debit cards. We never see or store your full card details.

What is your returns policy?

As a consumer in the EU you have the right to withdraw from an online purchase within 14 days of receiving it. To do so, email robynandgold@gmail.com within 14 days of receipt. Approved returns must be sent back in their original condition and packaging, return postage is paid by the buyer, and a 5% restocking fee applies. Items that have been resized, altered or customised are final sale. If you believe a piece has a material defect that was not disclosed, contact us within three days of receipt with photographs. Full details are on our Returns & Refund Policy page.

Is each piece one of a kind?

Yes. Robyn & Gold is a curated collection of individually sourced vintage pieces, so almost everything is one of a kind with only a single one available. When a piece sells, it is gone.

Can I see more photos or ask questions before buying?

Absolutely — we would rather you feel completely confident before you buy. We are happy to provide additional photographs, measurements or information on any piece. The quickest way to reach us is on Instagram at @robynandgold — or get in touch through our contact page.
